Chantal Mason was educated at The Kings School, Peterborough before gaining a degree in Theological Studies at the University of Exeter and Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She worked in education for six years, latterly as Head of Department for Religious Studies, prior to training for ordination at Trinity College, Bristol where she gained an MA in Applied Theology and Advanced Diploma in Ministerial Theology.
Chantal was ordained deacon in 2008 and priest in 2009 in the diocese of Exeter. Her first appointment was in the Mission Community of Alphington, Ide and Shillingford, where she ministered from 2008-2012. She then moved to the Chelmsford diocese, to serve as Chaplain to the Bishop of Chelmsford as a member of the Bishop's Staff Team, for three years. Chantal's particular interests lie in contemporary spirituality and the new monasticism, and the Church and the media. Her background also includes ministry at Lee Abbey Devon, the Scargill Movement and Taize; Christian communities, which have shaped and informed her commitment to ecumenism.
As Lazenby Chaplain to the University, Chantal is available for students and all staff to talk with confidentially and can be found in the Chaplaincy rooms, in the Old Library. Email Chantal or call 01392 725858 or 07501 512855.
