Libocedrus deeurrens, Torrey
Incense Cedar
Native of Oregon and California along the slopes of the Cascade
and Sierra Nevada ranges, where it attains a height of 150 feet.
Introduced into this country by Jeffrey in 1853, it has a narrow
columnar habit and is rather slow growing. Its foliage is dark
green and bark reddish. Its distinctive spire-like habit makes
it a useful ornamental tree, but its fragrant wood is of little
timber value. |
