Welcome to the Cornwall Campus
Welcome to the Cornwall CampusIt is not often that you are given the opportunity to build a new university campus from scratch, but this is exactly what the University of Exeter has been able to do in the last few years here in Cornwall. We opened this campus in 2004 and from those early beginnings have grown from strength to strength so that we will have 1700 students here by 2010. Exeter shares the Cornwall Campus with University College Falmouth – one of the UK’s leading specialist art institutions. We have developed a unique partnership that is being seen as a model for co-operation across the UK and Europe. This partnership means that there is a diverse community of nearly 3000 students here at the moment. This has resulted in us being able to build one of the highest quality student residences in the UK and have a vibrant jointly-run student union. The Cornwall Campus is a forward-thinking place where we have developed a range of degrees that we believe will be well suited to the demands of the work-place and society in the 21st Century. As such we are offering degrees in Renewable Energy, in Conservation and Ecology alongside more traditional subjects like History and Law. All our programmes enjoy the same traditional values of quality and employability that make the University of Exeter such a popular choice. Our presence in Cornwall goes back decades with the Institute for Cornish Studies and Camborne School of Mines becoming part of the University in 1970 and 1993 respectively. Both these historical Cornish departments moved to the Cornwall Campus, along with the English department (based in Truro from 1997) and the brand new departments of Ecology and Conservation and Geography.
