At the Cornwall Campus our degree programmes combine the traditional quality of an Exeter History degree with a fresh and innovative perspective, open to other disciplines and to new methods of teaching and assessment. As well as the more traditional cultural, political, social and economic aspects of History, we also reflect environmental and ecological approaches in our teaching.
Our expertise is concentrated in the modern period, from approximately 1600 to the present, incorporating international, economic, social and cultural history and many geographical areas, including the Americas, the Far East, the Middle East, Europe and Britain. Whether you study Single Honours History or combine it with another subject, you will be introduced to a stimulating range of periods, areas and approaches to history.
All History departments will promise to develop your transferable skills but in Cornwall we go further. Our optional Public History pathway enables first year students to develop these skills in the context of project work for museums, archives and ‘people’s history’ projects. Projects involve activities such as researching and preparing materials for a museum exhibition; documenting and researching collections of photographs, maps, costumes, minerals, or military
memorabilia; researching and writing up short magazine articles; or recording oral histories for a community heritage project. This is a distinctive and groundbreaking dimension to our Single Honours programme.
We offer a Single Honours BA History, as well as six Joint Honours degrees and a Flexible Combined Honours Scheme.

What our students say about living and studying in Cornwall
"My first term at Exeter's Cornwall Campus was fantastic!!! Everyone is friendly and helpful wherever you go! At first I found the work for History a litttle hard but once I was able to gain a foothold of what was expected of me I found it to be enjoyable and challenging. From the start of this term I have been able to develop my confidence in public speaking and improved on presentational skills in my essays. I found that the History department at Cornwall is full of enthusiasm and is always there when you need support and highly recommend that prospective students should come to UECC."
Robert Slezak
"The staff are all really friendly, and will do their best to help you if you need it. If you show enthusiasm for a lecturer's subject, then they are more than happy to help you find books or articles, so that you can follow your own interests within the broader topics. The small class sizes mean that they know who you are, which is really nice, especially in the first few weeks when you're trying to find your feet."
Katherine Kenward
"Being a part of the first cohort of History and Politics down here has been a great experience...we have gotten to know our tutors well, as peers as well as educators...There are great opportunities outside of the academic too, playing with the renowned Camborne School of Mines rugby team has definitely been a great experience as well as a way of breaking the ice."
Grant Whitmore
"Tremough offers more than the traditional student life style, its hard not to spend time outside walking in the hills or on the beach when we have such beautiful places nearby."
