Cornish Studies and the Royal Cornwall Museum - a Knowledge Transfer Project
This project ran until the end of May 2009. We worked with the Museum in three areas. 1. Informing the Museum's plans for a major re-display so that it reflects current thinking in the fields of Cornish history and Cornish Studies. We have collaborated with the Museum to produce some interpretation panels for an interim display and a timeline related to the theme of Cornish identities. We also hoped to stimulate a discussion of the role of the RCM in Cornish life. For an introductory paper on this topic click here. Other contributions to this discussion are welcome. Contact the Knowledge Transfer Fellow - Dr Bernard Deacon - at the ICS. One subject that was discussed as part of this project is that of Cornish identities. But what do we mean by this? 2. Producing teaching resources that make use of the Museum's collections and archives. Draft resource lists are being produced - for example on the topics of the Cornish language, Liberalism in Cornwall, mining, Methodism. 3. Initiating a joint lecture, workshop and publications programme
