"I completed my undergraduate degree in International Politics and International History, and my masters degree in Security Studies, at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. I began my doctoral research at Exeter in 2007, under the supervision of Dr Nick Vaughan-Williams. I am funded by a Department of Politics/HuSS studentship.
I am interested in critical and poststructural approaches to politics. My research interrogates the reproduction of different subjectivities in world politics, with a particular focus on gender. I am interested in the thought of Judith Butler, Michel Foucault and Jacques Derrida."

"I am an interdisciplinary PhD student, funded through the UK Energy Research Centre. My research aims to critically explore the role that ‘sustainability’ plays in the structuring of bioenergy science in the UK. The social and environmental impacts of bioenergy, particularly biofuels, are a matter of much political disagreement. Exploring how science produces and reproduces particular visions of bioenergy and sustainability, in both its communications and practices is therefore viewed as crucial to a better understanding of the way science interacts with wider society. My supervisors for this project are Prof. Michael Winter and Dr Dave Hodgson."

"I'm a serving naval officer, undertaking my PhD part-time at the Cornwall Campus, with Dr Jonathan Githens-Mazer. I completed an MPhil in International Relations at Pembroke College, Cambridge, in 1993 and, in 1997, was a visiting Service Fellow at Plymouth University International Studies department. I'm part self funded, and part naval funded.
My research focus is on modern strategy-making, albeit a very significant amount of the research has been on strategic theorists and practioners of the last 250 years. I also have a specific interest in strategy in Afghanistan, having served as the Strategy Director in the British Embassy for much of 2007. "
