You have the Stannary a few minutes away, a gym, the student shop, an extensive library and bus stop with frequent buses into Falmouth and the neighbouring areas. The community feel you get means you quickly make a circle of friends and you always have a sense of security within the 24 hour Glasney Lodge."
Hari Chandegra, 1st year student
At our Cornwall Campus, we offer exceptional accommodation, just a couple of minutes’ walk from all the academic and social facilities.
Glasney Student Village is a purpose-built student village offering high quality, en-suite accommodation on campus. The two and three storey buildings are divided into self-catered flats shared with six other students. The rooms are furnished to a high standard. The majority of rooms have a double bed, wardrobe, desk, telephone and internet points. A number of rooms have been modified for students with a range of disabilities.
The communal kitchen/dining areas are furnished with fully fitted kitchen, table and chairs, and TV and Freeview box, DVD/video. Additional facilities at Glasney Parc include coin-operated launderettes and a bicycle/surfboard store.
Twelve of the en-suite rooms at ground level are suitable for students with a range of disabilities. Individual personal needs can be discussed with the Accessibility Service.
Cost
The rent for the academic year 2009/10 is £105.42 per week and includes all utility bills and contents insurance cover for the room. Currently all our contracts cover both the Christmas and Easter breaks. Rents are reviewed annually.
The telephone and internet in you room are both subject to separate contracts and charges (internal calls to other rooms on campus are free). There is a one off payment of £73 for internet access.
Guarantees
All new unaccompanied students entering into Year 1 of an undergraduate programme who have firmly accepted the offer of a place at the University of Exeter and who have applied for accommodation by 31 July 2009 will be guaranteed an offer of a place in University owned/managed/approved accommodation.
Second and third year students
There is a good deal of private housing available for rent in Falmouth and Penryn, with rents typically in the region of £70-90 per week excluding bills. The Cornwall Campus Accommodation Office runs accommodation fairs and other services to help students find private sector accommodation.
Food and groceries
Glasney Student Village is self-catering, but if you prefer to have your meals prepared for you, the nearby campus restaurant and bar offer a range of options during the week. At the restaurant you can pay-as-you-go or buy vouchers from the Finance Office to cover your meals. The campus shops sell a variety of essential food items, and there are also two large supermarkets in nearby Penryn.
Car parking
Like many other university campuses, our Cornwall Campus has limited car parking. It also operates a Green Transport Policy and both staff and students are encouraged to use public transport and to car share. This means that there is no car parking available for students living on campus (except blue badge holders). A subsidised bus service operates between the campus, Penryn and Falmouth.
