The ESI Café
Eating, drinking, shopping
There are two bars, a shop, three cafés and a restaurant on the Penryn Campus.
Bars and Restaurant
In the smaller student union bar upstairs (The Upper Stannary) there are two pool tables, two 42″ plasma screens and a large projector screen that can be seen from both bars. The state-of-the-art surround sound system helps give enhance the area's atmosphere.
Downstairs, the lower bar and restaurant convert to a nightclub/venue with stage for bigger gigs and events. It's called The Stannary and it has a late licence until 2am for events. During the day, for seven days a week, it's open for all kinds of food: salads, hot meals, fresh breakfasts, yoghurts, fruit, baked potatoes, snacks, locally-made burgers, fresh coffee and tea.
And in response to student demand for more home-cooked food, it now offers hot evening meals between 5pm and 7pm from Monday to Thursday. All dishes are made using local ingredients to ensure the best quality and are priced from £1.00.
In addition, students can enjoy a Sunday roast with all the trimmings every Sunday during term-time between 12.30pm and 2.30pm from just £4.20 (or £5.00 with a soft drink).
There's also a shop on campus, between the Stannary and Media Centre, which stocks a wide range of products such as snacks, stationery, newspapers and magazines, household goods, art and course materials, mobile top-ups, groceries and fresh products (sandwiches, etc.) and even a carrier bag and tin recycling point.
Koofi's the perfect spot to bring your laptop and have a coffee made just how you want. It opens during term time, Monday to Friday, from eight in the morning to nine at night, and from three in the afternoon until nine at night at the weekend. The team make paninis, boxed salads and a range of sandwiches fresh every day; you can also choose from pizzas and hot bowl food to eat in or take-away. (Pizzas can be ordered from 15.00: call 01326 254262.) All kinds of cold drinks and Starbucks coffees are available, as are cupcakes from a small independent bakery in Helston. There's also space on the grass, as well as some picnic tables, to enjoy it all outside. Koofi's just next to the Porters' Lodge, in Glasney Student Village.
The café in the Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI) is open from 09:00 to 15:00 from Monday to Friday; it serves freshly-made salads, sandwiches, soups, tasca paninis and a variety of other snacks.
You'll also find a range of juices, smoothies and teas as well as expertly-made Peros coffee.
Performance Centre Café
The Falmouth University Performance Centre has a café which, in term-time, is open from 09:00 until 18:00 for a selection of hot food, including daily specials, fresh soup, salad boxes, paninis, snacks and Peros coffee. The café also opens in the evenings and becomes a bar, to coincide with performance times.
