Clubs & Societies

There are many clubs and societies at the University of Exeter’s Cornwall Campus and joining one is an excellent way of meeting new people.

The International Office and student-run societies organise events throughout the year. For further information please see the FXU website.

International Events on Campus

The International Welcome Week held in October 2008 included a Welcome Reception and guided tour of Falmouth for the new International students arriving at the Cornwall Campus at Tremough.

International students who remained on campus over the Christmas and New Year holiday period were treated to a traditional English Christmas dinner by Tremough Campus Services who manage the Glasney Parc Residences and Catering Services. There was also a party held on campus on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.

In addition International students were also given the opportunity to spend Christmas Day with a local British family through the HOST scheme.

“ HOST brings together international students at universities and colleges in the UK with friendly British residents who welcome students to their homes for a short visit. Hosts give students an experience of the culture and way of life in Britain. Students give hosts a personal insight into other parts of the world. It is a unique opportunity for both students and hosts to be ambassadors for their own country and to make a positive contribution to international understanding.”

International students have also enjoyed trips to Lanhydrock House – an old historic house owned by the National Trust and the Eden Project.

International Society

In addition to the above events and trips, the International Society also organises trips every term to other parts of the country such as Bath, Oxford, etc. As Exeter is only a couple of hours by train, we recommend that International students that wish to visit other parts of the country travel to Exeter and join these excursions as they are often a reasonable price and a great way of seeing the UK whilst meeting other International students from the other University of Exeter campuses.
