Camborne School of Mines' Test Mine and Field Station
Located 10 km WNW of the Campus, in an elevated position overlooking St Ives Bay, the field station comprised an extensive underground test mine and surface quarry workings in the Carnmenellis Granite. It is used for teaching mining methods, underground geological mapping, surveying and geotechnics. Research into blast vibration and use of explosives is also undertaken here. The surface is used as a test site for Renewable Energy solar and wind turbine equipment.
