Catering and Retail Services Team Achieve 3 Star SRA Rating

As part of our membership with the Sustainable Restaurant Association, the University Catering and Retail Services team is delighted to have achieved a 3 star rating in the SRA Food Made Good Sustainability standard - the highest possible grading.

The Sustainable Restaurant Association help organisations to move towards a better food system in many areas of their business. They begin by auditing current practices in a range of criteria, then make a series of recommendations for improvement.

The areas assessed include:

  • Sourcing - From local and seasonal ingredients, to sourcing meat and fish responsibly and supporting global farmers
  • Society - Demonstrating responsible behaviours, such as treating staff fairly, supporting the community and feeding people well
  • Environment - Valuing natural resources, wasting no food and making every effort to reduce, reuse and recycle

We are thrilled to be awarded the accolade, having been regraded for the first time since 2019. Scores have increased significantly across all three pillars, with the greatest improvement relating to 'Environment' - testament to the teams continuous efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle
