Communication and Marketing Services

Communication and Marketing Services is a 40-strong team which manages the University's internal and external communication functions.

There are six main areas of activity:

  1. The Press Office, which works to achieve positive coverage for the University in the regional, national and international media. In an average week the University will feature in more than 120 media stories. The Press Office also handles internal communication to 2,900 staff and 15,500 students.
  2. The Public Relations Office, which is responsible for organising more than 100 events a year. These range from small dinners for important stakeholders to major public lectures, Royal visits and building openings. The PR team also organises the international visit programme, which this year included Hong Kong, China and the United Arab Emirates.
  3. The Design Studio, which produces all of the University’s printed publicity material, including prospectuses, the annual report, magazines, posters and leaflets. More than 600 separate publications are produced each year.
  4. The Web Team, which designs and manages the University website. The website has more than 150,000 pages and receives around 1.75 million hits a week.
  5. The Marketing Team, which provides strategic and tactical marketing support for the University, leading the University’s efforts to recruit high calibre undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  6. Stakeholder management, which involves maintaining and developing relationships with more than 15,000 important individuals and organisations.

The team is mostly based in Northcote House, the University’s main administrative building. It is headed by Stuart Franklin, Director of Communication and Marketing Services.
