I am responsible for organising high profile regional and national events to support the University's key objectives regionally and nationally. Working closely with colleagues in Professional Services and Colleges and supporting events for senior staff including the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor. My role is to devise and manage major events including high profile visits such as Royal, Ministerial, visiting speakers, building openings, running the nomination and selection process of Honorary Graduands and managing their programme during degree congregations, in all around 100 events annually. I am responsible for a team of three staff all delivering events at senior level.
I joined the University in March 2008 as a Programme Administrator in the Graduate School of Education, moving to Communication and Marketing Services in January 2009. Previously I worked as a Personal Assistant/Production Assistant in the world of film and television working in Natural History for 7 years for the former head of the BBC Natural History Unit who had switched to making large format Imax natural history films. Whilst waiting for funding for a new Imax film, I was offered a temporary position at award winning 3D Animation company, Aardman Animations in Bristol. Initially to assist director Nick Park manage fan mail for his clay animation characters Wallace and Gromit. I ended up staying just over four years moving on to work with the lead Commercials producer and several creative directors who created commercials for television and cinema, working in conjunction with advertising agencies, a rep in New York and the UK. I worked for several years as a trained nanny living mostly in London plus a short stint in Germany.

I joined the University as Events Co-ordinator in September 2011. I am responsible for organising events at the Vice-Chancellor’s private residence including private dinners, a variety of receptions and the annual stakeholder garden party. I also offer event advice and support to Colleges and services within the University. I also assist the Events Manager with the events they oversee. Graduating in Hospitality Management from Bournemouth University I went on to work in hospitality, learning the operational side of running events and then moving onto the admin side of arranging them as an Events Co-ordinator. In my spare time I am an AVON representative and enjoy reading, travelling and spending time with my friends and family.
