Campaigns team

The Marketing Operations Campaigns team are primarily responsible for the production of marketing materials for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate (Taught and Research) course programmes. This includes overseeing the production of the prospectuses, subject brochures and associated publications, and also producing and updating copy for the undergraduate and postgraduate websites. We also produce e-communications throughout the year to encourage applications. This work also includes organising photo and video shoots, liaising with colleges, updating content on referral websites and assisting at internal and external recruitment events and Open Days. We continually look for new ways to communicate with our prospective customers and strive to be ahead of the curve in terms of our marketing approach.

We also undertake corporate communications campaigns for the University, for example the Annual Review, HR campaigns and the Graduation brochure.

Campaign Manager (PGT Lead)

About my role

I’m a Campaign Manager in the Marketing Operations team leading on Post Graduate Taught (PGT) central marketing and various corporate communications projects.

Fifty per cent of my role is focussed on PGT marketing. Working closely with colleagues in colleges, recruitment and admissions, I lead on the production of the annual PG prospectus, oversee the PG study site, coordinate Exeter’s presence at external PG recruitment events, oversee PG Open Days, and manage marketing communications campaigns aimed at encouraging applications to PG study at Exeter. I regularly commission and oversee collateral to support PG marketing including print, videos, web resources, advertising etc.

The other half of my role is focussed on corporate communication campaigns. These range from managing the production of regular publications like the University’s annual review and graduation programmes to one-off campaigns to achieve specific objectives, for example, the employability campaign ‘Loved my degree, love my job’. I also manage Rachel Caunter, our Communications and Marketing Officer in Cornwall.

About me

After a degree in French at the University of Bristol and a CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing, I began my career in marketing and communications. For more than 15 enjoyable years I’ve developed marketing and communications strategies for a wide range of audiences – from film and theatregoers to teachers and from artists to students. I’ve worked in press and public relations; online, digital and social media; direct marketing; events; and advertising over the years in organisations including a studio theatre, arthouse cinema, government agency, and charities. I started my current role in October 2016 having originally joined the University in 2015 as Communications Manager in Global Engagement and Development, where I edited Exeter Magazine and developed communications campaigns for alumni and supporters. I have extensive experience of speechwriting and copywriting and love working with other people to tell their stories.

Campaign Manager PGR (part time maternity cover)

About my role

I manage the marketing activities for our Postgraduate Research market to support the University’s research strategy.

Within this role I am developing the marketing channels and materials we use to effectively communicate the benefits of research degrees at the University of Exeter to both domestic and international students. My role involves managing the Postgraduate Research marketing plan including creating literature for Postgraduate research, overseeing internal and external Postgraduate Open Days, managing the Postgraduate Research pages of the website and managing content on referral sites. I work alongside the colleges to support their marketing activities and to provide templates for a uniform approach where appropriate. I also work with the Doctoral College to understand the wants and needs of their students and ensure our marketing activities support these.

About me

My background is digital marketing and I enjoy supporting various teams with the digital first approach the University has taken on, advising on Google Analytics, Google AdWords and Social Media. As an experienced digital marketer with a focus on customer acquisition, I thrive on being at the forefront of online marketing. I am accomplished at delivering strong, multi-channel, digital strategies that are results driven.

Campaign Officer

About my role

I am the Campaign Officer (maternity leave) based in the Marketing Operations team. I support the Campaign Managers in the development of the marketing plan and help produce the marketing collateral for the recruitment of UK and International Undergraduate, Postgraduate Taught and Postgraduate Research students and also for corporate campaigns. I coordinate the publication of the subject brochures including proof-reading, editing and liaising with colleges to collate the content. I also manage the Student Blogs for the University, assist at Open Day events and carry out research in order to enable us to review and improve our marketing materials. My skills include copywriting for web and print, editing and proof-reading, but thanks to my project management and administrative background I am also able to bring a strategic approach to our planning.

About me

I joined the University in 2013 as a Sales and Events Coordinator for Event Exeter. In 2015, I joined the Communications and Marketing Service on a secondment role as Events Officer to project manage the University’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. I created and managed a programme of events including guest lectures, a Community Day, a 1950’s themed celebratory party and a classical concert with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. I also planned integrated marketing campaigns in order to communicate to our relevant audiences, such as printed posters and programmes, social media promotion and web content. It was this role that made me realise that I wanted a career in marketing, as I enjoyed being more creative and innovative and recognised that I could use my previous customer service and sales experience in identifying how best to communicate with our customers. I previously worked abroad for 3 years in Italy, France, Cyprus, Austria and Finland for Thomson Holidays, and enjoy exploring new places; my recent travels have taken me to Thailand, Paris, Amsterdam, New York, Greece and Berlin. I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Geography at the University College London in 2006.

Campaign Manager (UG Lead)

I am a Campaign Manager with a primary focus on undergraduate marketing activities, including print, web, events, and related publicity material and other marketing activity.

I joined the University in 2002, working in various roles across the library, Academic Services, Web Team and Research & Knowledge Transfer before joining the Marketing Office in 2011. In my spare time I used to work as a freelance music writer, working for publications including The Guardian and NME, and record companies including EMI, as well as numerous websites. But now I have a small child to take up my free time...

I love music, cycling, injuring myself by playing 5-a-side football, and cooking. I own a lot of compact discs and know far too much about the 1954 Hungarian World Cup team.

Communications and Marketing Officer (Cornwall)

About my role

I am the CMO for both Cornwall campuses – Penryn and Truro, based at the stunning Penryn Campus. My main focus is on promoting the University’s activities in Cornwall across all media for the purposes of student recruitment, public engagement and reputation building. This includes involvement in local events, community initiatives and marketing activities in person and across web, print and social media. I lead on all the Cornwall-specific marketing literature, for example the University Living Guide for Penryn Campus, and the Welcome to Penryn Campus booklet that is given to prospective applicants.

I also provide support to my colleagues in marketing operations and strategic marketing by providing copy for University publications and websites, and work with both internal communications and the press office, to provide stories for the Weekly Bulletin and local press.

Working closely with the Head of Professional Services for Cornwall, I help to organise community initiatives including quarterly community drop-in sessions, a community newsletter, sponsorship of local festivals, sports club and the Cornwall School Games.

I line manage Frank Zirger, Communication Marketing Assistant for the Cornwall Campuses.

About Me

I joined the University in this post in December 2016, having previously worked in brand management and marketing management roles at Falmouth University. I have worked in marketing for the majority of my career. Before moving to Cornwall in 2009, I worked in product management with Black and Decker for many years, and was responsible for the launch of many familiar products, such as Dustbuster cordless handheld vacs and a range of other power tools, kits and promotions.

I love living in Cornwall, being able to walk to work and enjoy gig rowing at weekends. The community here is very special and I’m enjoying being part of it, as well as helping to integrate the University into the local towns’ activities and sharing what we do.

Communications and Marketing Assistant (Cornwall)

About my role

I am the Communications and Marketing Assistant for the University of Exeter's Cornwall campuses.

I manage the @UniExeCornwall social media accounts, promoting the University’s activities in Cornwall, and coordinating paid social advertising campaigns to build brand awareness and promote open days. I also manage the Cornwall campuses web pages, creating and uploading content to support the University’s online presence. My role also involves inputting into the creation of campaign literature, press releases, photography and videography, and supporting the strategic delivery of internal and external communications and marketing campaigns concerning the University in Cornwall.

About me

After graduating from Falmouth University with a degree in English and Media in 2014 and completing a web editorial internship for a surf forecasting website, I joined the University of Exeter in 2016 on a Graduate Business Partnership with the Digital Team. When this placement finished I was delighted to move back to Cornwall for my new role where I can use my digital knowledge to support CaMS in Cornwall and go for the occasional surf!
