About us

The Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy is a vibrant interdisciplinary community, dedicated to delivering world-class education and research that breaks new boundaries and has a positive impact on the world. We work across fundamental sciences, engineering and business to deliver on the University’s Strategy 2030 to create a sustainable, healthy and socially just future.

We are one of the world’s best universities in interdisciplinary environment and sustainability, founded on strong fundamental disciplinary research and education. The faculty is home to ten departments in physical and environmental sciences, engineering and includes the globally recognised, triple accredited University of Exeter Business School.

We are a diverse group of staff and students that bring together the very best in fundamental sciences, engineering and business to deliver a powerful combination of talent to help analyse and solve some of the big environmental and societal problems globally, nationally and locally.

We push forward the frontiers of knowledge across all our disciplines and work collectively on ‘wicked’ problems, especially concerning the environment and sustainability.

The Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy brings together excellence in science, engineering, economics and business to help creating a sustainable future world through transformative research, education and engagement.

Our researchers play an active role across our interdisciplinary Research Institutes, Environment and Sustainability Institute, Global Systems Institute, Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and the Living Systems Institute.
