Roz Pardee

Roz has worked in UK Higher Education administration for over 25 years, 16 at the University of Exeter: based in Education, the Business School, and Humanities, and then in Academic Policy and Standards as Senior Policy Advisor for Academic Partnerships.

In Feb 2016 Roz moved to the Global Engagement and Development division, taking up the newly created post of Head of International Partnerships.  In this role Roz supports the University’s Global 100 strategy through providing operational and strategic leadership for the initiation and development of key global academic partnerships and relationships.

Roz was awarded a BA in History from the College of William and Mary, in Virginia USA, and a Masters degree from the University of York, England.

Richard Foord

Richard joined the University of Exeter in 2010 to work in the University’s International Office. He is responsible for nurturing the University’s partnerships with higher education institutions in East and South East Asia and has worked closely with student recruitment and advancement teams. Richard manages the University of Exeter presence in Beijing and Shanghai, which is mediated by the China-Britain Business Council. He manages the Global Partnerships support team.

Prior to joining the University of Exeter, Richard was an education officer in the British Army for ten years. In his final role he was Executive Officer at the UK’s Defence Academy. He trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where he was awarded the Sheikh Salem Al Sabah prize for Defence and International Affairs. He has completed three Master’s degrees - in Global Security, Development Management and Business Administration.

Stuart Westhead

Stuart joined the University of Exeter in February 2016. He is responsible for identification of key academic partnerships with leading global HE institutions in North America, and for delivering sustainable, integrated research and education partnerships that generate mutual advantage through collaboration.

Stuart previously worked for the government in Japan, developing internationality in schools’ curriculum in Kochi prefecture from 2002 – 04. Then coordinated international programs for Brown University in the USA between 2004 – 07, with responsibility for programs in India, Japan and Italy. In 2007 he became Head of the International Office at Falmouth University (University College Falmouth at that time) and led development and implementation of the Internationalisation strategy. Stuart created a team that grew the International student community at Falmouth University by 400%, established over 50 Global Partnerships and was recognised as the UK’s number 1 (Global #2) International Office by the International student barometer for its services in admissions and student support. Stuart holds a BA in Economics & History from the University of Liverpool and an MA in Management of International Higher Education from Edgehill University.

 

Nick Chavasse

Before joining Exeter’s Global Partnerships Team in 2018, Nick has worked in International Student Recruitment & Partnerships for 8 years, with Oxford Brookes University’s International Office and the University of Exeter’s International Student Recruitment team, with regional responsibility for the Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Central Asia. As part of the Global Partnerships team, he looks forward to developing the University of Exeter’s Global Partnerships strategy and engagement in Europe. Prior to joining Exeter, Nick spent 14 years working in tourism marketing, sales, and business development at executive and managerial level - as Sales Director with GTA Travel (London) and Membership Executive with South West Tourism (Exeter). He spent 6 years with Visit Britain (Chicago, USA) as Marketing Executive and Business Development Manager for the Central USA Region – building partnerships and joint-marketing initiatives with airlines, travel agents, tour operators, and professional associations.  He has worked as Director of Tourism & Heritage at Coventry Cathedral; maintains an interest in peace, nonviolence, and reconciliation studies; and is completing a part-time Masters at Coventry University in Peace & Conflict Studies. For 2 years, he managed a national Nonviolence Education & Training Programme with FOR USA – the Fellowship of Reconciliation – based in New York State, USA, and managed the International Peacemakers Fund for FOR UK (Oxford, England).

James Smith

Dr James Smith joined the Global Partnerships team in August 2016, working as a Business Partner responsible for supporting the College of Humanities and the College of Social Sciences and International Studies. James works closely with both of these Colleges to support a wide range of international partnership activity. He provides direct support to the Associate Deans for International Development (ADIDs) to research, develop and maintain relationships with institutions from around the world, which both support the strategic goals of each College and enhance Exeter’s Global 100 ambitions. 

James received his PhD from Exeter’s department of Classics and Ancient History in 2013, having completed a BA and MA in Ancient History at Cardiff University in 2009. Upon completion of his PhD, James remained at Exeter working as Academic Representation Manager for the Students’ Guild before taking up his current position in the Global Partnerships Team.

Rachel Jones

Rachel joined the Global Partnerships team in January 2017 and is responsible for supporting Global Partnerships activity in the Business School and College of Medicine and Health, working closely with the Associate Deans for International and Development (ADIDs). 

Rachel has BA in Economics & International Relations and an LLM in International Law, then completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course. After deciding not to become a lawyer, Rachel worked for international development NGOs managing projects in Spain, East Africa, Brazil and Ecuador, before coming to Exeter in 2012 as the Development Analysis and Projects Manager in what is now Global Advancement. 

 

Charlotte Elson

Charlotte Elson joined the University of Exeter in 2015 as Global Partnerships Officer. As Global Partnerships Officer Charlotte is responsible for the planning and overseas management of Vice-Chancellor led international visits to partner universities, and equivalent inward VIP visits. Charlotte is available to advise and support senior College staff in their visits overseas where necessary. Prior to joining the University of Exeter, Charlotte worked in regional, and later national, event coordination and marketing for Riverford Organic Farmers.

Charlotte is currently acting Business Partner for the College of Life and Environmental Science and College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences, supporting the two ADID’s with college global partnership strategy.

Limin Dai

Senior Business Development Manager (China Office – Shanghai)

Limin Dai is the Senior Business Development Manager representing the University of Exeter in Shanghai Office of the China-Britain Business Council. She facilitates partnerships and research collaborations between the University of Exeter and top Chinese universities in Shanghai and supports career and network development of Exeter alumni.  She has extensive experience in media, public relations, and business development. Before representing the University of Exeter in 2010, she worked with China Daily Group for over 10 years. She holds an MA in International Journalism from City University London and a BA in English from Nanjing University. 

Wenyan Yang

Wenyan Yang is the Business Development Manager representing the University of Exeter in Beijing Office of the China-Britain Business Council. Her key role is to facilitate partnerships and research collaborations between the University of Exeter and top Chinese universities in Beijing. She also supports career and network development of Exeter alumni in Beijing.  

Prior to joining the University of Exeter in 2015, Wenyan worked as Assistant Consultant for pro bono projects in collaboration with NGOs and foreign enterprises in China. She also has more than five years of experience in language training and consulting. Wenyan graduated from the University of Nottingham with an MA in Education and holds a BA in English (International Business) from Tianjin Foreign Studies University.

Sarah Newby

Sarah joined the Global Partnerships team in January 2018, responsible for organisation of senior delegation travel overseas, and executive level inward visits to the University. Sarah graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2011 after completing a degree in Tourism Management, since then Sarah has worked for a global tour operator specialising in educational group travel. Sarah’s love for travel and adventure led her to taking a late gap year, working and living in Australia before travelling around the South Pacific and Asia.

 

Matt Collins

Originally from London, Matt relocated to Devon a few years ago and joined the University of Exeter in 2018.  As an administrator Matt is responsible for supporting the Global Partnerships team, including the Director and Assistant Head; managing operational support, coordinating travel and visits, and also supporting on the QUEX partnership.  Specific support is focused on Australasia, East and South East Asia, Latin America, and the colleges of SSIS and CEMPS.  Prior to joining Global Partnerships, Matt gained extensive experience in executive support and event planning in London, as well as hospitality management in both the UK and Spain.  Most recently, Matt worked as a Regional Demand Planner in Exeter within the security solutions industry.

Andrea Townsend

Andrea arrived in Exeter via Canada in late 2017, and joined Global Partnerships full time in 2018.  As an administrator, she provides daily support for the entire Global Partnerships team, including the Director and Assistant Head; with specific support centred on Europe, North America, along with two colleges, CLES and HUMS.  Her responsibilities include managing diaries, travel, inward and outward visits, as well as day to day communications and management of our team websites.  Andrea holds a degree in English Education from her native United States and gained her postgraduate qualifactions from the University of York in International Humanitarian Affairs.  Before arriving in the UK, Andrea spent several years working in operations coordination in the arts and entertainment industry for an award-winning agency and management company in Toronto.
