Belinda is the Project Manager for Smartline, an ERDF part-funded research and innovation project using technology to help people live healthier and happier lives. She is responsible for the project management and delivery of the project, which includes budget & output monitoring, project compliance & governance, risk management, managing good working relationships across the project partnership and liaising with the project funder.



Belinda joined the University of Exeter in September 2012 as part of the Innovation, Impact and Business (IIB) team based on the Penryn Campus in Cornwall as administrative support for the team. This was a varied role that encompassed being PA to the then Head of RKT Operations (Cornwall) and the then Head of Strategic Economic Development in Cornwall, supporting the business engagement activities of knowledge exchange team that identifies, develops and delivers collaborative research projects with key stakeholders, business partners and FE/HE partners with an emphasis on European Structural Investment Fund (ESIF) and RCUK funding opportunities and ensuring the smooth running of the office. 

Belinda progressed to the role of Project Officer providing administrative support to three ESIF part-funded projects on the Penryn Campus - ESI, ESF CUC Research Programme and SERSF. In this recording, monitoring, reporting and compliance role. Belinda’s primary responsibility was the preparation of output data for ERDF claims, ESF MI participant data submissions, drafting quarterly progress reports, maintaining audit fit evidence files and managing project events.

In the following ESIF programme (2014-2020) Belinda supported the then Head of IIB Cornwall with all things ESIF for the university's ever increasing portfolio and in May 2018 undertook a 15 month secondment into Research Services as the ESIF Research Finance Manager, leading the team responsible for the university's ESIF portfolio before taking up her current role.

Belinda has had a full and varied career, primarily within the higher education sector, as an administrator in both support and managerial roles. Previous employers include Barts and The Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry (Queen Mary University of London), London South Bank University, University of Surrey, Surrey Police and Hardenhuish School.
