Course Details: L3 Engineering Apprenticeship

Technical Services, at the University of Exeter, Penryn campus, along with Cornwall College Group have developed a two-year Engineering apprenticeship scheme.  The scheme focuses on the professional skills required to support and help deliver teaching and research in the Higher Education sector.

Years 1 and 2

On enrolling in either the Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering apprenticeships you will be trained in the state-of-the-art facilities of the Cornwall College Group, you will study part-time (one day per week) in which you will achieve a L3 qualification in two-years.

You will study a number of core modules alongside your specialist modules.  Modules will develop your understanding of a wide range of engineering techniques and provide you with the analytical tools and concepts necessary to understand the technical and managerial issues you may face in an engineering career.

Four days each week during term time (working a 5 day week during Cornwall College Group holidays) you will apply theories and techniques learnt with your training provider to real world projects, tasks and jobs in the workshops and laboratories at the University of Exeter Penryn campus.  You will be expected to hone and develop the skills you have acquired and directly support world leading teaching and bespoke research projects.

At the University of Exeter you’ll be mentored by, work alongside, and learn from qualified technical staff, developing your knowledge and skills. You will also have the opportunity to conduct further personal and professional development through our Staff Learning and Development team.
