Spring Community Day

Spring Community Day

A successful first Community Day for the University!

The first ever Spring Community Day took place on Sunday 20 March on our Streatham campus and a fantastic day was had by all who attended.

Over 2,000 people enjoyed a variety of events and activities from the programme including treasure hunts, garden tours, archery lessons, craft, yoga and football with Exeter City Football Club.

Visitors took part in a number of interactive and exciting workshops including the fun kitchen, first aid, the University Symphony Orchestra and our steel band. There were also demonstrations and exhibits showcasing our cutting-edge research at the University, with a chance to meet staff and students and find out more about our work in science, engineering, archaeology and many more areas. Visitors were also able to try their luck at some crazy experiments, meet our research robots and try some local produce from our award-winning farmers market.

Community officers from Devon and Cornwall Police and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue were also on hand to give advice on police issues and health and safety and everyone had the chance to try on uniforms, get their fingerprints taken and get behind the wheel of the fire engine!

Many thanks to all the volunteers, exhibitors and visitors on the day for their contribution in making the event a successful and fun occasion.

The great atmosphere was summed up by many visitors on the day - below are just a handful of the great comments we have received.
