Write Fest 2018

November is Academic Writing Month, an academic write-a-thon that happens every year, inspired by NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) but catering to the specific needs of academic writers. It’s hosted by PhD2Published, as an online space where the global academic community can pledge their writing projects, record progress, and share thousands of writing tips via the #AcWriMo hashtag on Twitter.

We will be joining the University of Sheffield WriteFest (#AcWriFest18) initiative, by bringing together people from across the university to recognise and celebrate writing. We will be running writing workshops and retreats, sharing resources and launching our Annual Funded project ‘Towards a Framework for Supporting Postgraduate Researcher (PGR) Writing’.

The festival aims to provide protected time and space for writing to help you to:

Resources

Alongside our workshops, WEBINARs and retreats we also have lots of writing resource available on our ELE page. Why not look at our resources on:

Write Fest founder Dr. Kay Guccione has also collected articles and blogs about writing on Scoop It!

Dear Research...

As part of our Write Fest launches, and through a campaign on twitter, we are asking PGRs and ECRs to write a letter to your research – whom you cannot talk to but might have a few things to say to.

This is a creative writing task developed by Kelly Preece, and is used in our Write Clubs and Writing Retreats. As part of Write Fest we would like to know what you would say to your research, if you could. We are hoping to share these on the Doctoral College blog, and collate them in to a printed booklet so that PGRs and ECRs can share their experiences.

Have a letter to your research to share? Please email it to researcherdevelopment@exeter.ac.uk!

Write Fest the Musical

Inspired by Humanities PhD Office C’s PhD The Musical, we are creating a Write Fest the Musical Spotify playlist! What songs make you think of writing? Tweet us your suggestions for the playlist (and why) @ExeterDoctoral!

For now, why not listen to the PhD The Musical playlist

'Shut up and brag'!

Like our friends at Shut Up and Write Tuesdays, we would like to share and celebrate the writing you get done at Write Fest! So #shutupandbrag about your achievements to @ExeterDoctoral or researcherdevelopmet@exeter.ac.uk. Whether it be words written, milestone reached…or the writing itself, we want to hear from you! We will hen compile this in to a blog post at the end of Write Fest.
