See Shells and Climate Change

22nd February - 29th March 2019

A collaborative project by ceramic artist Jake Boex, climate scientist Professor James Scourse and Phil Dyke (National Trust Coast and Marine Advisor), this exhibition explored our emotional reaction to climate change. One thousand porcelain bowls act as data points showing the changing temperatures of the North Atlantic Ocean over the last millennium. Each bowl was marked with a specific year and coloured, red to blue, by glaze made in part from the seashells that provided the data. Laid out like a mandala, the evidence illustrated our interconnection with natural processes.
