ICSET 2104: How the world can benefit from sustainable energy.

ESI researchers pivotal in major world conference

Researchers from the Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI) are part of an international collaboration organising a major conference on sustainable energy, the International Conference on Sustainable Technologies, ICSET, 2014.

The conference, which takes place at PSG College of Technology in Tamil Nadu, India, from 11 to 13 December 2014, aims to facilitate discussion among a new generation of specialised scientists, engineers and industrialists capable of developing, optimising and integrating sustainable energy sources including solar power, wind power and energy from biomass.

The conference will address new forms of energy distribution, energy market scenarios and the energy needs of emerging societies, as well as focusing on innovative batteries and the potential to exploit hydrogen as an energy source.

The ESI’s Professor Tapas Mallick, Chair in Clean Technologies (Renewable Energy) and also a member of the Renewable Energy department in the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences, along with his colleague Dr Senthilarasu Sundaram, are among the conference's key speakers and organisers. The event is a collaboration encompassing not only the University of Exeter and PSG College of Technology, India, but also the Norwegian institutions the University of Oslo, the University of Bergen and the Institute for Energy Technology.

Professor Mallick said: “We’re delighted to be representing both the University and the ESI at this prestigious international conference, and excited about the possibilities it could present for further international collaboration and shared research in this important and fast-moving area.”

For full details of the conference's speakers, organisers, abstract and registration deadlines - as well as information regarding travel and accommodation - please visit the ICSET 2014 website. Organisers say the deadline for abstracts has now passed, but late submissions from within the University might still be considered.
