Complex relationships govern environmental change, agricultural practices and conservation.

Social science and sustainability

With a key theme focusing on social science and sustainability, the Environment and Sustainability Institute will lead research which will help inform a transition from resource intensive economic growth to resilient and environmentally sustainable economies. Within the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly region in particular, a solutions orientated ecosystems industry will be actively supported by this work underpinned by a partnership approach to engaging with local businesses.

We envisage that this theme will broadly encompass the following areas:

  • Behavioural change,
  • environmental economics,
  • environmental law,
  • public policy, and
  • environmental governance and regulation.
