Alumni Auditorium
A technology rich area providing the largest teaching space in the university.
- Seats for 404 delegates which are adaptable, enabling people to turn and face each other to facilitate group discussion, and are individually networked
- High quality audio and projection equipment

- State of the art Assisted Reverberation System to enhance sound
- The Alumni Auditorium also caters for performance and music.
Exploration Labs
Two, 60 seater exploration labs containing cutting-edge technology - among the first of their type to be found in any UK university.
The first features 60 tablet PC's and video conferencing faclities and the second provides ten, multi-touch 'surface tables'. Each table is linked to a series of wall-mounted screens to assist with group discussion.
Seminar Block
12 seminar rooms which are vitually soundproof from the rest of the building and equipped with high quality sound and projection facilities.
The rooms have floor to ceiling glass and there is a flexible wall system is in place, suitable for group work, discussions or giving presentations.
Facts and Figures
In its first summer of being open, the building hosted four conferences attended by more than 1,700 delegates, as well as 18,000 Exeter graduates together with their guests during the University summer graduation receptions.
Wilkinson Eyre were chosen as the project architects and Sir Robert McAlpine (builders of the O2 Arena and the Eden Project) were appointed as the main contractor.
Between the commencing of the project in March 2010 and the completion of the building in time for the opening in May 2012:
- 4.5 Olympic swimming pools worth of soil was removed
- 2409 m3 of poured concrete was used
- In all, 72,594 hours of work was undertaken to complete the project
- The Forum has 1,229 Roof Panels and is the largest grid shell timber roof in Europe
- The Forum reuses the rainwater it collects to flush the toilets!
