Final year programme – Flexible Combined Honours

biochemistryThere are three compulsory modules in final year Biochemistry:

  • Some form of independent study or dissertation must be undertaken through one of the following modules:
    • Independent Study (15 credits) - BIO3888B (15 credits)
    • Independent Study/Project/Dissertation in your other subject area
  • Horizons in Biochemical Research - BIO3085 (15 credits)
  • Energy Metabolism - BIO3093 (15 credits)

and a module chosen from those available that year, for example:

  • Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry - BIO3041 (15 credits)
  • Frontiers in Molecular Cell Biology - BIO3077 (15 credits)
  • Cellular Basis of Immunity - BIO3078 (15 credits)
  • Cell Biology of Disease - BIO3086 (15 credits)
  • Organic Synthesis and Drug Design - BIO3089 (15 credits)
  • Secondary Metabolites - BIO3090 (15 credits)
  • Bioinformatics - BIO3092 (15 credits)

to make up an overall total of 60 credits in this half of the overall Flexible Combined Honours degree programme.

More than 60 credits of biochemistry/biosciences modules can be taken each year within Flexible Combined Honours.

The Biochemistry pathway is offered through modules within the Biosciences department.
