Final year programme - Flexible Combined Honours

Chinese bicylesThe level of Mandarin Chinese followed in your final year depends on what you took in your second year. You take whichever is the natural follow-on from the second year module:

  • Mandarin Chinese Intermediate 1 FLC2230 (30 credits) (terms 1 and 2)

or

  • Mandarin Chinese Intermediate 2 FLC2330 (30 credits) (terms 1 and 2)

If you completed Intermediate 2 in your second year and there is sufficient student demand, an advanced level module may be offered.

The modules are delivered by the University's Foreign Language Centre.

If 60 or more credits of Mandarin Chinese are taken during your degree, your degree title will include the phrase "with Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese".

It may be possible to add to your Chinese studies by taking related modules from departments across the University, e.g. there may be modules available in Far Eastern history, philosophy and religions. This could then be reflected in the degree title with a suitable term, e.g. "with Chinese Studies" or "with far Eastern Studies".
