Final year programme - Flexible Combined Honours

Japanese commutersThe level of Japanese followed in your final year depends on what you took in your second year. You take whichever is the natural follow-on from the second year module:

  • Japanese Intermediate 1 FLJ2230 (30 credits) (terms 1 and 2)

or

  • Japanese Intermediate 2 FLJ2330 (30 credits) (terms 1 and 2) Note - if the number of students wishing to take this module means that running it is not viable in any academic year, it will not run. If you have nevertheless completed 60 or more credits of Japanese during your degree, your degree title will still include the phrase "with Proficiency in Japanese".

The modules are delivered by the University's Foreign Language Centre.

If 60 or more credits of Japanese are taken during your degree, your degree title will include the phrase "with Proficiency in Japanese".

It may be possible to add to your Japanese studies by taking related modules from departments across the University, e.g. if there are modules available in Far Eastern history, philosophy and religions. This could then be reflected in the degree title with a suitable term, e.g. "with Chinese Studies" or "with far Eastern Studies".
