First year programme - Flexible Combined Honours

Exeter canal - Double LocksOne compulsory History module is taken during the first year:

  • History Foundation Course - HIH1000 (30 credits)

one 'Sources and Skills' option, e.g.:

  • Divided Germany 1945-1990 - HIH1537 (15 credits)
  • Childhood in 19th and 20th Century Britain - HIH1545 (15 credits)
  • British Naval Power in the Age of Nelson - HIH1535 (15 credits)
  • ...there are many to choose from, and they vary each year. A full list is available on the History department's options web page (scroll down this list to find the HIH modules)

and one 'Perspectives' option, e.g.:

  • Health and Medicine since Antiquity - HIH1213 (15 credits)
  • Popular Politics Society and Culture in Britain 1800-1914 - HIH1015 (15 credits)
  • Sub-Saharan Africa, 1800-1960 - HIH1232 (15 credits)
  • ...there are many to choose from, and they vary each year. A full list is available on the History department's options web page (scroll down this list to find the HIH modules)

to make a total of 60 credits in this half of the overall Flexible Combined Honours degree programme.

FCH students are allowed to take a maximum of 90 credits of History each year, provided there are sufficient spaces on modules.
