From 2014 entry, History is not available for direct entry through UCAS. It is for internal student transfers only, subject to space and Admissions Office approval.

First year programme - Flexible Combined Honours

Exeter canal - Double LocksTwo compulsory History modules are taken during the first year:

  • Making History - HIH1400 (15 credits)
  • and one 'Understanding' option chosen from:
    • Understanding the Medieval and Early-Modern World - HIH1410 (30 credits)
    • Understanding the Modern World - HIH1420 (30 credits)

and a module chosen from the Sources and Skills modules that are avilable that year, e.g.:

  • British Naval Power in the Age of Nelson - HIH1535 (15 credits)
  • Early Modern Venice: Representations and Myths - HIH1586 (15 credits)
  • Men, Women and Madness in Twentieth-Century Britain - HIH1517 (15 credits)
  • The Vikings: Image and Reality - HIH1603 (15 credits)

to make a total of 60 credits in this half of the overall Flexible Combined Honours degree programme.

FCH students are allowed to take a maximum of 90 credits of History each year, provided there are sufficient spaces on modules.
