First year programme - Flexible Combined Honours

Iranian bazarTwo compulsory Persian language modules are taken in the first year:

  • Elementary Persian I - ARA1013 (15 credits)
  • Elementary Persian II - ARA1020 (15 credits)

and one module is chosen from those available, e.g.:

  • Introduction to Persian History and Culture - ARA1021 (15 credits)
  • History and Society in the Middle East - ARA1009 (15 credits)
  • Politics and Economy of the Contemporary Middle East - ARA1010 (15 credits)
  • Introduction to Islam - ARA1018 (15 credits)
  • Introduction to Islamic Archaeology - ARA1030 (15 credits)

to make a total of 60 credits in this half of the overall Flexible Combined Honours degree programme.
