Second year programme - Flexible Combined Honours
You have complete choice in the English modules taken during the second year.
Choose from those available e.g.:
- Introduction to American Literature - EAS2074 (30 credits)
- Revolutions And Evolutions: 19th Century Writings - EAS2029 (30 credits)
- Creative Writing: Finding a Voice - EAS2087 (30 credits)
- Shots in the Dark - EAF2502 (30 credits)
- ...the choice varies each year. The current list is on the English department's modules web page
to make a total of 60 credits in this half of the overall Flexible Combined Honours degree programme.
FCH students are allowed to take a maximum of 90 credits of English each year, provided there are sufficient spaces on modules.

Second year transfer into English from another Exeter first year programme
If you would like to transfer into English from your second year you must normally have grade A in English A-Level or equivalent.
You will usually be required to take in your second year:
- Beginnings: English Literature before 1800 - EAS1035 (30 credits) (term 1)
You other English modules can be level 1 or level 2 and you choose from those available.
FCH students are allowed to take a maximum of 90 credits of English each year, provided there are sufficient spaces on modules.
