Second year programme - Flexible Combined Honours

Politics discussionThe study of Politics in the second year follows a similar pattern to the first year, of different compulsory modules depending on the subject you are studying it with.

A. If you are combining Politics with a subject from Social Sciences, Sciences or is Business-related, two compulsory Politics modules are taken during the second year:

  • Explaining Public Policies - POL2102 (15 credits)
  • The Economics of Politics - POL2046 (15 credits)

and 30 credits chosen from available modules, e.g.:

  • American Politics - POL2047 (15 credits)
  • The Politics of the World Economy - POL2027 (15 credits)
  • ... there are many to choose from, and they vary each year. A full list is available on the Politics department's options web page

PoliticsB. If you are combining Politics with a subject from Humanities, there are two compulsory Politics modules:

  • Explaining Public Policies - POL2102 (15 credits)
  • Political Thought of Modernity - POL2059 (15 credits)

and 30-45 credits chosen from available modules, e.g.:

  • American Politics - POL2047 (15 credits)
  • The Politics of the World Economy - POL2027 (15 credits)
  • ... there are many to choose from, and they vary each year. A full list is available on the Politics department's options web page

to make a total of 60 credits in this half of the overall Flexible Combined Honours degree programme.

If you want to combine Politics and International Relations, you must take the 'established' Combined Honours degree of that name - BSc Politics and International Relations.
