Second year programme

Coaltion cabinet 2010The second year of PPE continues the blend of compulsory and optional modules.

Compulsory module:

  • Economic Principles and PolicyBEE2024 (30 credits)

Recommended modules to choose one or more from:

  • Political Thought of Modernity POL2059 (15 credits)
  • The Economics of Politics POL2046 (15 credits)
  • The Political Economy of Globalisation POL2064 (15 credits)

And modules chosen from level 2 available in:

  • Politics
  • Philosophy
  • Economics
  • ...there are many modules to choose from, and they vary each year
  • 30 credits can also be taken outside of these areas, e.g. to study a language

Important notes:

  • You need a total of 120 credits.
  • There should be an equal distribution across the three subject areas. It could affect your degree title if this is not the case.
  • No more than 60 credits can be selected from one department, as this is an interdisciplinary degree programme.
  • You can take level 3 modules as well as level 2 modules in your second year.
  • You can take some level 1 modules if there is a significant academic reason and this is approved by the FCH Director
