ComplaintsNeed to complain?

If you have a complaint about something relating to the University, there are several ways you can take things forward, according to the nature of your complaint. Talking informally to someone is often the easiest way to resolve things. For example, talk to:

  • your personal tutor
  • FCH staff
  • module tutor
  • someone in the departmental or College offices
  • the Guild

If talking informally does not resolve things, you may wish to make a formal complaint. The University has a formal Complaints Procedure and such complaints should be sent to the FCH Director.

Unhappy with an academic outcome?

FeedbackIf you are unhappy with something such as a mark for an assessment, this is not regarded as a complaint. For such academic issues you should first see the appropriate module tutor or someone in the relevant departmental or College office, in order to get some feedback or explanation. The FCH Director is also very willing to talk through academic issues.

If talking informally does not resolve things, you may wish to make a formal Appeal. The University has a formal Appeals Procedure and such Appeals should be sent to the FCH Director.

talk-to-tutorDo not suffer in silence!

At the very least:

  • talk to your personal tutor, and/or
  • talk to the FCH staff. No appointment needed - if the FCH office door is open, come in!
