50. Tenders and quotations

50.1. College Deans and Directors of Services must comply with the University’s tendering procedures described in the University’s procurement policies, procedures and guidance.

50.2. The following table sets out the course of action for different threshold levels.

Title  Lower limit  Upper limit Procedure
Spot purchase Zero Low threshold Quotations are recommended, but value for money must always be obtained.
Quotation Low threshold Medium threshold At least 3 quotations must be obtained.
Tender Medium threshold EU threshold At least 3 competitive tenders must be obtained.
EU tender Over EU threshold The EU procurement tendering procedures must be followed.

50.3. Procurement Services publish the threshold values on the procurement website. Deviation from the University’s threshold table above may only be approved by the Head or Deputy Head of Procurement, who will seek advice as appropriate.

50.4. Funding bodies may impose additional rules pertaining to procurement which must be followed.
