The University has a number of procurement systems and projects.
Systems and projects
e-Procurement
The Parabilis e-procurement system is a combination of new Aptos modules and access to an electronic marketplace. The system provides an addition to, not a replacement for, the standard Aptos PO Management module although, in time will replace most of the core Aptos functions.
In-tend
In-tend is the university's system for managing invitations to tender, requests for quotation, e-auctions and contracts in a clear and simple way.
Purchase 2 Pay project
The aim of the Purchase 2 Pay project is for Colleges and Services to identify and fix any non-compliant Purchase to Pay practices.
Sustainable Procurement
The University spends more than £111million on non-pay items each year of which about £71million can be influenced by sustainable procurement. There is therefore a significant opportunity to reduce our impact on the environment through the products we select and to influence our staff, students and suppliers to improve their sustainability. The University is committed to the principles of sustainable procurement which support its objectives of being a top 10 university.
Whole Life Cost (WLC)
WLC takes account of the total costs of making or purchasing and then owning (or leasing), operating, maintaining and managing the requirement (including its end of life, whether that involves de-commissioning, disposal or re-sale) over a specified period of time.
Procurement Services shall ensure the most appropraite method is used to evaluate tender bids on a WLC basis where colleges and services are purchasing goods, services and works above the current European Union procurement thresholds. Where possible all staff shall follow the same principles when making lower value purchasing decisions.
Procurement Training
Procurement training courses are available for departmental buyers to understand the University's Financial and Procurement regulations and why it is important to carry out compliant competition processes.
