The Student Services Centre provides one of the most important elements of the Forum. It is designed to make student life easier than ever before, open six days a week it provides a single gateway to eleven student services:
- Skills Development
- Student Finance
- Guild Student Advice Unit
- Registry Services
- IT Help desk
- Career Zone
- Multi Faith Chaplaincy
- Health and Wellbeing
- International Student Support
A queue management system, e-kiosks and a team of Student Information Assistants combine to ensure students' questions are answered quickly and without having to queue. With the Student Information Desk Online providing 24/7 access to information and support, the Student Services Centre marks a step change in customer service.
The Student Information Desk, with its team of Student Information Assistants, acts as a first port of call for students to receive friendly, professional and efficient support and guidance. Opening hours are 8am - 8pm, Monday to Friday and 10am - 3pm on Saturdays, in term time. Out of term time the hours will be 9am - 6pm Mon-Fri.
The Student Services Centre also includes a soft seating area with IT touchdown points, interview rooms and flexible “pods”, a training seminar room, and payment facilities.
The new Career Zone is a central advice point where students can find more information on graduate opportunities, volunteering and work experience, enterprise, self employment and much more. There's also a new online system called My Career Zone that will allow students to search and apply for jobs, book on to employability events and find internship opportunities.
The new Guild Advice Unit offers free, impartial and confidential advice on a range of issues, including housing, finance, and academic related matters.
