Graduation day is an opportunity for your family and friends to celebrate your academic achievements

Information for guests

What to Wear

Guests are advised to dress as though they are going to a wedding, although the wearing of large hats is discouraged as they may block the view for others.

Seating

The Great Hall will be open to the public 30 minutes before each ceremony begins and guests are asked to take their seats at least 15 minutes before the start of the ceremony, see the schedule of events for details of timings.

Guests will have been allocated tickets entitling them to seats in either the Main Auditorium or the Balcony. Seats for guests are unreserved with the exception of guests with special needs who will have reserved seats. Graduands are sat in a separate area of the hall and it is therefore not possible for graduands and their guests to sit together.

At the beginning and end of the ceremony guests are asked to stand for the entry and exit of the processions. We ask all guests to remain in the hall until after the exit of the graduates' procession.

Children

It is not advisable to bring children under school age to the ceremonies as it can be dull and uncomfortable for them. If your child becomes restless during the ceremony, it would be a kindness to others to take him/her from the venue as quickly and quietly as possible. Ushers will be on hand to assist if necessary. Please note that children are not permitted to cross the stage with their parents.

Photography during the ceremony

Photographs and videos are permitted, but we kindly ask you not to leave your seat during the ceremony.  Please note flash attachments are not permitted as these can be distracting for all those on stage including graduands crossing the stage.

Parking at the University of Exeter, Streatham Campus

As the ceremonies are taking place on a Saturday free parking will be available on campus, but spaces are limited.  Our main parking is in Car Parks A, B and D although there are various other parking areas on the campus.  http://www.exeter.ac.uk/visit/directions/streathammap/

Please note that parking in the Prince of Wales Road and Streatham Drive is owned by the City Council and not the University and that there is a fee for parking here (street meters).

Graduands can request a disabled parking space on campus for their guests as part of the registration process but priority will be given to wheelchair users.
