In order to graduate, you must...

Registration opens

Please complete the registration process before the deadline of 23rd October 2016. Do not wait for confirmation of your award.

Registration for graduation will open on 27 September 2016 and your invitation to register email will be sent to both your Exeter and personal email address on this date. Your email will contain a link for you to register. During the registration process you will be asked to confirm your name is correctly registered and that the pronunciation is correct. Your name cannot be changed later, so will need to reflect your name as listed on official documents.

You will also be able to confirm or refuse two complimentary guest tickets for your ceremony.

During registration you will be able to inform us if you or your guests have any specific accessibility requirements (e.g. wheelchair space).

Registration closes

Graduation registration will close on 23 October 2016. If you do not complete registration by the deadline you will be confirmed as NOT attending and your documents will be posted to your home address. If you fail to register before the closing date, there will be no further opportunity to register and you will not be able to attend your graduation.

If you have an academic related debt to the University you may be prevented from graduating. All outstanding balances must be cleared by 2 December 2016. You can make a payment online through the epay system. Alternatively, contact SID on 0300 555 0444 (UK callers) or +44 (0)1392 724724 (International callers).

All those who have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate are eligible to attend the graduation ceremony.

Undergraduate Students: You need to have successfully passed 300 credits to be invited to attend the graduation ceremony with 60 credits passed in your final year.

Postgraduate Taught Students: You must have been awarded a full masters qualification to be eligible to attend the graduation ceremony. Student’s studying or awarded a Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma are not eligible to attend graduation. Students studying PGCE will be invited to attend the Winter ceremonies.

Research StudentsYour final thesis and completed examiners report must be submitted by the 7 November 2016. Those who submit the final thesis after this date will be invited to attend the ceremony in July 2017.

Outstanding Debts: If you have an academic-related debt to the University you may be prevented from graduating. All outstanding balances must be cleared by 2 December 2016. Please be aware that all graduands must wear full academic dress in order to graduate (gown, hood and cap). You can hire or buy your academic robes online at: www.wippellgownhire.co.uk.

The deadline for ordering robes is the 1 December 2016.

Please have the following details ready:

• Your height
• Chest measurement
• Hat size (circumference of your head taken just above your ears)
• Date of your ceremony
• Time of your ceremony
• Qualification
You may provide imperial or metric measurements.

Please note: We have been notified of at least one company falsely claiming to offer a gowning service for the University of Exeter's graduation ceremonies. Please be aware that J. Wippell & Company are our sole suppliers of academic dress for these events.

Further information

As well as full academic dress, all graduands are required to wear smart clothes on the day of the ceremony. We kindly request that you do not wear jeans or trainers.

Please wear appropriate footwear for walking up and down the stage steps.

Additional extras

Extra guest tickets (if available) can be purchased through the online store from 7 November 2016 at a charge of £15 each. An email will be sent containing a link to purchase tickets.

Tickets for ceremony 1 will be available from 9am 7 November 2016

Tickets for ceremony 2 will be available from 11am 7 November 2016

Tickets for ceremony 3 have now sold out.

Due to increased student attendance at each ceremony ticket numbers are limited.

Tickets will be available until 25 November 2016 or when tickets are sold out (whichever comes first).

Guests without tickets

If there are any available tickets on the day, they will be sold at the SID desk in the Forum. Additional tickets are £15.00 each.

Guests who cannot purchase or do not have tickets for the ceremony can watch the event live via web streaming at the following venues:

Our official photographers, Ede & Ravenscroft, will be in on campus on the day of your ceremony, offering a professional photography service.

To avoid delay on the day we recommend that you place your order at least 10 days before your ceremony. Should you decide not to pay in advance it is still possible to pay at the sales desk on graduation day, however, prices will be higher.

Campus Clothing offers a wide range of graduation merchandising, including ‘Class Of 2015’ Hoodies and T-shirts with the names of you and your classmates, along with a host of other items.

Please note that your name will appear on the clothing unless you have indicated you do not wish the University to use your name on graduation memorabilia (you will be asked during the graduation registration process).

Further information

If you would like your friends or family to attend your graduation or just to visit you in the UK, they may need to apply for Visitor visas. You will need to send them documentation confirming your current study and immigration status and there are a number of documents that they will need to prepare. You can print your graduation invite letter by logging into your student record and choosing the option of 'self service letters' or you can request a letter from us at the SID desk.

If you or any of your guests have any accessibility requirements such as special seating arrangements at the ceremony, please provide details when completing the online registration task outlined in your invitation email.

Interim transcripts

Award documentation can only be issued after the official date of award. Before this date you can obtain an interim transcript from SID or via the 'Your results' page in the Student Record System, accessible through iExeter.

Your award documents will be posted to your Home address shortly after your award has been processed. All documents will be posted before 28 November 2016. You must ensure your home address in the Student Record system is correct. If your documents have not been received within 14 working days of being sent and you have ensured the delivery address was correct we can arrange for a free replacement.

If your address was not checked as being correct before 28 November 2016 and your documents have not arrived, you are required to order replacement documents. Please note that if you do not notify us of non-delivery by 12 December 2016 you are required to order replacement documents.

If your documents are to be posted to an address outside the UK we strongly advise that you order DHL courier delivery to ensure safe receipt of your documents. All DHL orders must be placed before 14 November 2016. Orders received after this date will be sent by standard non tracked mail.

Additional copies of your transcript and certificate

Additional copies of your transcript and certificate can be requested once you have been awarded via the online store. Please note that any extra documents ordered will be sent via separate mail and will not be included with those issued at your graduation ceremony.

Changing your ceremony

Under normal circumstances due to large numbers of guests and students attending our ceremonies we are unable to accommodate requests to attend graduation at a different time of the year.

If you are doing a combined subject degree and wish to graduate with your other subject please contact sid@exeter.ac.uk, where requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

For any changes to your ceremony date due to exceptional circumstances, these will need to be considered by the graduation team on a case-by-case basis. Please email sid@exeter.ac.uk.

Award documentation
