How do I sign up for Grand Challenges?

Sign up for dilemmas has now closed. If you were unable to sign up by 23 November, don't worry, we are looking to run a second chance sign up in the New Year. More information to follow.

After you have received confirmation of your dilemma, you will have the opportunity to sign up for one of 10 inquiry groups. This will allow you the chance to choose a particular aspect of the dilemma to study in depth or to take part in certain activities.

I can’t find the Grand Challenges dilemmas on My Career Zone.

If you have set Grand Challenges as one of your preferences on My Career Zone, you should receive notification of the events. However, you can also access the Dilemmas by selecting the "Browse Events" options on the left of the screen and then select "Grand Challenges", then "View All".

How do I sign up for a dilemma?

You can sign up for a dilemma through My Career Zone. Sign in to My Career Zone and browse Grand Challenges events.

Can I get a place if I am on the waiting list?

You can join the waiting list for a dilemma; however, this does not guarantee you a place on the dilemma. If you want to leave your name on the waiting list, we advise that you also choose another dilemma option where there are spaces still available.

If you are then lucky enough to get on to your first choice from the waiting list, please make sure you cancel the booking for your second choice option.

Can I sign up for more than one Grand Challenges dilemma?

You can only sign up for one dilemma.

My first choice dilemma is full. What do I do?

If your first choice dilemma is full, you should look at the other dilemma options and choose the one you find most appealing. Remember you don’t need to pick a subject linked to your area of study. Why not try something new?

You might also want to look at the inquiry group details to see if there is a particular aspect of a dilemma you are interested in, e.g. producing an awareness campaign, or working with school groups, etc.

I’ve missed the deadline. Can I still sign up?
