The Giraffe and the Harpsichord: Modelling the Museum, Leverhulme Lecture by Prof Paul Fishwick

How is a giraffe like a harpsichord? This question might remind you of the Mad Hatter’s riddle to Alice in her adventures in Wonderland. The hatter asks Alice: “Why is a raven like a writing desk?” When visiting RAMM, you will come across Gerald the Giraffe towering over a harpsichord. The harpsichord is a musical instrument that predated the piano. Is the question answerable? Paul will give an overview of modelling where we will explore how Gerald and the harpsichord are connected.

Modelling is an activity we loved as children, and is a defining aspect of being human. We will explore modelling to connect ideas and objects. For more information and to register, please visit the Eventbrite webpage.
