Sir Brian Burridge KCB CBE BSc MBA (LLD)

Sir Brian Burridge spent a full career as a pilot in the Royal Air Force. He has held a front-line command at every level in the Service and spent a number of years in the MOD in policy posts. As Commandant of the Joint Services Command and Staff College, he was responsible for the postgraduate education of the UK’s most able officers. He also commanded the UK Joint contingent of 43,000 personnel in the 2003 Iraq War. He left the Royal Air Force in January 2006 as Commander-in-Chief Strike Command and is now the Vice President Strategic Marketing at the Finmeccanica Group of companies.

Sir Brian’s personal interests are reflected in his charitable activities, which over the years have ranged being from a trustee and facilitator for the Windsor Leadership Trust to his current position as the chair of the Bentley Priory Battle of Britain Trust. The mission of this latter charity is to restore the fine Soane building that was home to Fighter Command during the Second World War to house a museum and education centre.

President of the Air League, Sir Brian is also an elected Vice President in the aerospace, defence and security sectors’ trade association. With a first degree in physics, he also has an MBA from the Open University where he holds an honorary doctorate. Sir Brian was also a research fellow in political science at King’s College London and is now a visiting professor at the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Reading.
