EPSRC Research Software Engineer Fellowships 2020

The University of Exeter invite expressions of interest for the EPSRC Research Software Engineer Fellowships 2020.

We welcome applications from excellent researchers at Exeter and also researchers from outside of Exeter who wish to apply for a fellowship to join our new group of Research Software Engineers. External colleagues are invited to contact Katie Finch to discuss this opportunity further.

Due to the institutional quota on fellowship applications to the EPSRC, there will be an internal selection process to identify excellent candidates.

Fellowship Summary:

The EPSRC Research Software Engineer Fellowships scheme aims to recognise the contribution of RSEs that are driving the development of high-quality research software and demonstrating leadership in embedding the vital role of software in disciplinary and institutional research cultures.

An RSE Fellowship is a personal award, designed to provide the recipient with the necessary support to contribute to these aims. Fellows are provided with significant resources in order to pursue their vision and establish or develop RSE activities within their institution.

Up to £4.5 million of funding is available from EPSRC to support approximately four to eight RSE Fellows in the EPSRC remit for a duration of up to five years (starting 1st April 2021) and up to £0.6 million of funding is available from STFC to support one RSE Fellow in the STFC remit for a duration of up to five years.

Exeter’s approach:

The University will be running a managed and coordinated submission process. Through this selection process, we aim to ensure that applications of the highest quality are submitted and that all candidates are supported.
