SWEEP Project Manager

Role

Dawn is the Programme Manager for the South West Partnership for Environment and Economic Prosperity (SWEEP).

SWEEP is led by the University of Exeter in partnership with Plymouth University and Plymouth Marine Laboratory, and funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). It is a 5-year programme designed to bring together academic, business and policy sectors to address the fundamental challenge of translating academic research into impact. It will co-create bespoke solutions and tools targeted at the better integration of the natural environment into decision-making and management.

Profile

Dawn joined the University in 1998 as an MSc student, following a first degree in Zoology at Durham University. This subsequently led to a PhD at Exeter in freshwater ecology and fish biology. After a brief spell as a technician in the sediment research facility in the Geography department, Dawn then took up a NERC post-doc position investigating the impact of non-native fish species.

Dawn joined the professional services team in Research and Knowledge Transfer at the University in 2007, undertaking various roles including: contract research manager, research development manager (EPSRC and NERC), relationship manager (Met Office and Plymouth Marine Laboratory), Climate Change and Sustainable Futures Science Strategy theme lead.

Since joining IIB in 2015, Dawn has led the Business Development Team, been the Business Partner for the College of Life and Environmental Sciences, and is now the SWEEP Programme Manager. In her current role she has overall responsibility for the efficient implementation and ongoing management of the SWEEP Programme.
