Emma Bland

Senior Impact and Partnership Development Manager - Wellbeing and Public Health (UEMS) and Centre Manager of the European Centre for Environment and Human Health

Emma is responsible for coordinating and facilitating IIB support for UEMS, including impact development, collaboration with external partners and income generation.

Emma is also Centre Manager, European Centre for Environment and Human Health. She is responsible for the smooth running of the Centre, providing strategic advice and support, leading on business engagement and a range of projects.


Following degrees in environmental biology and then soil conservation, Emma began her career in environmental conservation and international sustainable development in both the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors, before moving to the Higher Education sector.

Working first for the Open University, Emma moved to the South West to join the Medical School in 2004 and over the last 12 years has focused on building cross-sector strategic partnerships to deliver education and research programmes. Helping to found the European Centre in 2010, she has led a vibrant and active business engagement programme building a number of business-research.

Most recently, Emma has been working with a diverse range of collaborators and stakeholders on eHealth and eWellbeing; developing research opportunities that explore the use of new technologies to improve wellbeing.
