Second Green Impact Gold for International Office.
International Office win gold at Green Impact awards ceremony
The International Office has won Gold for the second consecutive year at the University of Exeter’s annual Green Impact award ceremony.
Lucy Thompson from the International Office was also recognised for her commitment to green issues with an Environmental Hero Award. Lucy’s dedication to sustainable and ecologically friendly living includes completing an MSc Sustainable Development in 2008 and undertaking volunteer work in Belize with Raleigh International.
The Green Impact project is run locally by the University, but managed across several Higher Education Institutions by The Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC). As part of the Green Impact scheme this year the International Office has introduced a bin less office to raise awareness of potential recycling opportunities. The office also took part in the University’s Community Challenge initiative and volunteered staff time at Poltimore House where team members lay paths, painted and did garden work. “The International Office is delighted to have won Gold at the Green Impact Awards for the second consecutive year”, says Dr John Withrington, Director of the International Office, “staff have shown dedication and motivation towards all aspects of the initiative and I am in no doubt that the good work prompted by Green Impact will continue to grow.”
