Personal development

The summer school programme is about much more than academic study. Attending the programme will allow you to experience university life in the UK as well as help you think about which choice of university, degree subject and careers you are interested in.  The programme will include information about careers, the UCAS application process and throughout the programme you will be able to develop your team working and communication skills, which are important in any career that you pursue.

The programme also features social activities designed to help you get to know your fellow students, make friends and enjoy your time outside of class.

There will be evening events on campus and in Exeter plus day trips at the weekend which will include a trip to one of Devon's beaches, home to some of Europe's best surf beaches, and the spectacular local countryside.

About Exeter

The city of Exeter is located in the south-west of England, 2 hours from London by train, and is consistently rated as one of the best places in the UK to live and study.  Visiting the city centre, you will be able to see over 2,000 years of recorded history, including original Roman walls, a medieval cathedral and Elizabethan buildings, alongside a modern and lively city centre.  Exeter also has a number of award-winning museums, theatres and galleries close to the campus.

Harry Potter fans will be pleased to know that Exeter is home to the Leaky Cauldron, Diagon Alley and other locations from the books – Exeter alumnus J.K. Rowling is said to have been inspired by a number of locations in Exeter when writing the Harry Potter series.
