Entry Requirements

The Pre-University Summer School is open to independent, high-achieving students who are about to start or who are enrolled within their final two years of high school and who are interested in applying to an undergraduate degree in Medicine, Medical Imaging or Medical Sciences or Law  It is an intensive social and academic experience and therefore independence, maturity and motivation are essential qualities for all applicants.

In order to join the programme, you must be in or about to start your last two years of High School. The age criteria for this course is anyone between the age of 16 - 18 or students who will turn 16 by 31st August 2018.

We look for candidates whose most recent high school grades show the potential to meet the entry requirements for our undergraduate  programmes.

English language requirements

The academic programme is taught and assessed entirely in English. Therefore all students whose first language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency. We currently accept the following*:

European Baccalaureate 60% or above
GCSE/IGCSE English Language Grade C or above
IGCSE English as a Second Language Grade B or above
HKDSE English (Hong Kong) Level 5 overall (no less than Level 4 in any sub-section)
IELTS 6 (with no less than 5.5 in each component)
International Baccalaureate English Standard Level Grade 5 or Higher Level Grade 4 or above
Pearson Test of English (Academic) 58 with a minimum of 51 in all communicative skills
TOEFL Computer-based TOEFL – 213
Internet-based TOEFL - 90

We may accept alternative English language qualifications which are equivalent to a minimum score of B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), or confirmation from your school that you are taught in English, for admission.  If you do not have any of the above English language qualifications then please contact us: iss@exeter.ac.uk
