Work and careers advice

Studying abroad at Exeter will provide you with excellent opportunities for both personal and professional development.  We are committed to providing all our students with the opportunities to develop essential skills and to help you make the most of your potential, so that your study abroad experience has a lasting impact on your future life and career.

There are many services available at the University which specialise in helping you to develop, ranging from study skills services and English language support to personal tutors.  There are also opportunities to get involved with voluntary work with the Students' Guild and to explore new interests through the many societies.  In addition to this, our Careers and Employment Service can provide specific careers advice and training.  For further details,  please see www.exeter.ac.uk/employability.

Working whilst studying

The Works, based on the Streatham Campus, is run jointly by the Careers and Employment Service and the Students' Guild, for students to develop their skills and access information on graduate jobs, term-time work, training opportunities and volunteering.  The Careers Advisory Service (CAS) in Cornwall also offers a similar service.  International students with  a Student Visa (Entry Clearance) are able to get a job and work for up to 20 hours per week during term-time and full-time in the vacation.  Industry in the South West of England is primarily service based so it is relatively easy to find part-time work to supplement your income.  The Works also acts as a gateway to other services offered by the University's Careers and Employment Service.
