Kwasi Asamoah-Twum, MSc Surveying and Land/Environmental Management, Cornwall Campus
"The opportunity to study in a top 10 university in the UK; to be enrolled on a programme accredited by both the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES); and to be a part of the Camborne School of Mines, a school with a reputation for world leading teaching and research in mining, were striking incentives that informed my decision to make the University of Exeter my first choice.
As an international student, I have benefited immensely from English support and Careers Advisory support. My active involvement in societies and clubs such as the International Society, the Afro-Caribbean Society, the Falmouth Christian Union and the FXU Basketball team made settling-in easier and have also contributed to an extensive international network of friends.
I have enjoyed studying at the University of Exeter particularly because of the interactive nature of teaching, the access to state-of-the-art surveying instruments, and the location of the Cornwall campus, which has provided me the opportunity to experience the Cornish mining heritage at first hand. My expectation have been met and I would definitely recommend the University of Exeter to prospective students from around the world and particularly, Ghana."
Eric Effah-Donyina, PhD Earth Resources, Cornwall Campus
"My choice of Exeter University was because the PhD programme in renewable energy studies offered at the Cornwall Campus matched my academic and occupational aspirations. Together, both teaching and support staff of my department and the University as a whole have done a wonderful job in supporting me so far.
Other experiences I have gained at Exeter include meeting and making new friends from all over the world. This has helped broaden my social, academic and professional horizon. Life at Exeter and any other University in the UK and Europe has its own challenges. These may include adaptation to a new environment, weather, culture, financial and nostalgic feelings about one's home country and family.
In all these challenges, the assistance from academic and support staff of the University has been substantially effective. Safety at the Cornwall campus for both human and property is one of the best I have experienced anywhere."

Peter Kwame Darkoh, Master in Public Administration (MPA)
"It was a joy and welcoming news when I got nominated as a Commonwealth Scholar to purse a Masters in Public Policy and Administration at the University of Exeter. I had developed a keen interest in public policy and administration based on my own career ambition to acquire advance knowledge, professional skills and analytical capabilities in public sector management and public policy analysis. I can say for a fact that I don't regret my choice to study in Exeter as the Exeter MPA has all it takes to develop students to become professionals in their chosen fields. The MPA at Exeter is a combined programme run by the Politics department and Exeter Business School and the programme combines both theory with seasoned and first class professors and hands on practice with professionals from top UK institutions such the National Health Service (NHS), National Audit Office (NAO) and National School of Government.
Exeter University has excellent facilities, a safe campus and environment conductive for academic and personal development. There are good lecturer-students relationships and supportive postgraduate staff who are always willing to offer help particularly to international students in which ever ways. As an international student I have made good friends and contacts from different backgrounds and cultures through personal interactions and other students programmes such as 'Think Tank Africa' and 'African-Caribbean Socieites' which have improved my personal development, social life and networking capabilities."
Ruby Quartey is studying at the University of Exeter Business School
"As one of the top 10 UK Universities in the 2010 rankings and with the Business School's reputation for the best student experience, the University of Exeter was my first choice for postgraduate study. I was overwhelmed when not only was I offered a place to study but also a half-fee scholarship from the Exeter Business School.
My course at the university has been very interesting. Not only have I gained an in-depth understanding of economics and finance theory but I have also had the chance to gain some practical real world knowledge and exposure to different software used in the field.
As an international student I have enjoyed and benefited from the support offered by the various departments and the International Office by participating in talks, information seminars, as well as the careers service programmes available. The general atmosphere has been welcoming with friendly students and helpful academic staff. I have made lots of friends and acquaintances to help my international social networking, and joined clubs like the International Society and the African-Caribbean Society.
My time in Exeter both academic and social has been worthwhile and a lifetime experience that I will always remember. To anyone thinking of studying in the UK for both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, I would definitely recommend the University of Exeter.
