Ronald Adaje, MSc Mining Geology (Cornwall campus)

The Welcome Week that is organised for new students really helped me settle in and meet new people. There are people from many different nationalities at Cornwall, with students from Britain, Ghana, Sierra Leone, China, Brunei, Thailand, Botswana and Canada to name but a few. I am originally from Nigeria and I came here because I wanted to continue my studies and ultimately become a better geologist. So far my degree has definitely lived up to expectations. The lecturers are really friendly and accessible which makes being a student here great, and will ultimately help me in my aspirations to become a mining geologist after I graduate.

"I have no regrets in making Exeter my first choice.  There have been great support services that assist in many ways.  The Careers service had been very helpful in finding part-time jobs.  I have joined many societies, including the International Society, and this is an easy way to make friends and get involved in activities on campus.  I also felt very at home when I met with the International Welcome Week team.

The level of communication between student and teacher in the School of Law is great and they offered me a great study abroad opportunity.  There's also much to be said about the countless firms that offer workshops at Exeter on different aspects of law and on developing law skills.

I will encourage anyone who wants to study in a safe and friendly environment with easily accessible support and welfare services to come to Exeter University.  You should come for the beautiful welcoming campus, for the great academic experience, for the comfortable accommodation, and for the friendly mix of students."

"I desired a warmer part of the UK when applying for postgraduate study and a search for high ranking mining teaching Universities led me to the Camborne School of Mines, which is part of the University of Exeter. My time in the School of mines which has over 120 years mining related training history has been exciting and rewarding. I have gained practical experience through the state of the art facilities available and broadened my knowledge with support offered by my tutors, researcher development programme as well as the careers service available.

Serving as an Exeter student ambassador was a great experience enabling me to meet prospective students. As an International Student buddy I have developed great relationships too. Volunteering for the Penryn and Falmouth crisis food bank centre has also presented me with an opportunity to give back to the community, reaching out to people in crisis. Apart from with my colleagues, I also network with friends from the Afro-Caribbean and International Students' societies. On the whole, I would liken schooling in the University of Exeter, Cornwall Campus as having the best of two things fun which Cornwall is noted for (with its lovely beaches), and excellent study environment through the quiet, safe and peaceful community surrounding the campus."
